Council Update – June 2025

Council have released a June 2025 update on the Camp Reserve redevelopment project. This advises that a planning permit has been lodged with Council for the redevelopment of Camp Reserve in accord with the Council-endorsed 2020 Master Plan. The application will now be assessed by Council’s Planning Team and advertised in due course. 

The update includes these three artist’s impressions of the planned outcome.

These impressions do impress, largely because of the numerous mature, or near mature, trees and other landscaping elements. Futuristic? An artist’s impression of similar new facilities at the northern end of the oval, the area illustrated as car park, would look equally impressive. As we have long argued, this option would protect the historic and heritage-significant landscape and agricultural show infrastructure in the southern part of the Reserve from destruction, obviate the need to carve netball courts into the solid rock base of the south-west slope, and still provide the new facilities much needed for the sporting clubs.
