The Alchemy of Gold

The Alchemy of Gold forum brought together experts, historians and the community too explore how the discovery of gold in Victoria in the 1850s reshaped the state economically, socially and politically, and was an outstanding success. Held at the Campbells Creek Community Centre on May 16, 17 & 18, around 200 people attended on each day to hear presentations from experts on themes including First Nations People and the Gold Rush, Women and Children on the Goldfields, Goldfields Administration and the Government Camp, Heritage Significance, Geology and Archaeology, and Goldfields Technology Transformation.
