Join the Camp Reserve VCAT Appeal

Dear Gold Camp Castlemaine supporter,

Important developments regarding a VCAT appeal for Camp Reserve PA077/2025 planning decision.

We are holding an objectors’ information session

Saturday 22 August  2pm-4pm West End Hall, Woodman St Castlemaine

Receive an update about the following;

1. On Tuesday 21 July at the Mount Alexander Shire Council meeting the councillors voted 5 to 2 to approve granting a planning permit for PA077/2025 Camp Reserve. A permit has not been issued yet.
2. There is a 28 day window from the issuing of a Notice of Decision, for our community to initiate a VCAT appeal. That end date is 31 August. If an appeal is not initiated, a permit will follow.
3. The GCC committee met with a VCAT planner last Tuesday for a professional appraisal of the permit application and the case. We made a site visit. He believes our case has both merit and prospects. He will represent whoever chooses to join the case. The committee voted to proceed to VCAT.
4. All objectors can join the case. There will not be a financial cost to individuals. All costs will be covered by existing funds and external fundraising.The case would be scheduled approximately 6 months from the appeal being lodged.
5. We need to have people join with us before we lodge the appeal.  If we want more people to join us after, it becomes an amended appeal and costs, and may not be accepted.
6. If you wish to join, we need signed permission from you.You will need to obtain a copy of your objection if you do not have one.
7. To do this, email council at info@mountalexander.vic.gov.au  

State your name and address and email address and request to have a copy of your objection sent to you. Then send it to us or bring a copy. This will be supplied to our representative planner. GCC can not do this on your behalf due to privacy laws. Please do this as quickly as possible.

8. A large number in the case is helpful.
